I was drawn to ceramics because  it can be approached in so many ways. It's both amazingly simple  and incredibly complex. Shaping a ball of mud into an elegant vase is no small trick. I takes imagination, practice,  patience and a good bit of science.  I feel like I can take this medium in so many directions.  My first introduction to ceramics was in college. Our course was intended to use clay to introduce   3-D design, a basic class in sculpture.  As I moved on, elements of painting, print making, drawings are easily discovered as well .

 I'm still learning, experimenting, and enjoying ceramics 40 years after my first encounters. Today, I work full time as an artist and sell my work locally In Boone NC.  My. studio is up the. road, over the border, in Trade Tn.  My wife and I live in woods, our home nestled in the mountains and my studio sits back in the trees.  After years of running my own. business. and raising a family , I'm fully  focused on  my art.
